Take a look at the image to get a feel for the early concept of connecting social media and status (original concept). Ideas were exchanged and a longer term vision was chosen to help focus the effort.

The true strength of social media came into play within the wave space of Google Wave. Mark and Tyler bumped into each other while editing the same wave. Mark gave Tyler his standard spiel about the value of connecting what we talk about online, and a more personalized web experience. Tyler took the concept and produced a deployable alpha version of the code. He fixed Mark’s “problematic” php, then made the great conceptual leap to use Amazon web services. Here is an old rule! If you want to be really successful in affiliate marketing, you ought to drive traffic to your website. The more visitors to the website, the higher the probability of click through. Many affiliate guides forget to mention that it is always prudent to build traffic first and then consider affiliate marketing. There is no magic potion. If there is no traffic, there are no profits. Don’t worry, if you haven’t got hordes of visitors, even a few visitors will do initially. Once these visitors start trickling down the web drain, you can place banners and advertising in appropriate places to get the results. A good affiliate marketer doesn’t care about the number of clicks but on the average number of clicks per visitor.

But David this is a tool that will increase the click through rate of existing visitors by targeting their interests with timely, and relevant ads.

I am using the code in a Wordpress Blog. Found a great place to put it so the bar looks right, because the initial links display vertically. When I click on a link an amazon webpage opens up, but it can hardly be seen without mad scrolling. I am not envisioning a place on my blog where both the vertical link piece and the amazon webpage will look right. Perhaps each link should open up into a separate tab/window?

Thanks for the feedback, please feel free to try it out. We're working on the challenging social aspect of adoption now. The lead tech Tyler is implementing a default list of popular twitter users so you can see suggested ads for them, and then can opt in to get your own.
